91¶ÌÊÓƵappÆƽâ°æ selected to join Beckman Scholars Program

For the first time in its history, 91¶ÌÊÓƵappÆƽâ°æ has been selected as a Beckman Scholars Program awardee by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. The foundation chose the College after a rigorous application process.

Using 91¶ÌÊÓƵappÆƽâ°æ transmission electron microscope, Jennifer Tasneem ’17 worked closely with Blanca Carbajal González ’08 on her thesis on the synthesis of iron oxide nanocubes.

Getting a leg up in nanotechnology

With a major upgrade to 91¶ÌÊÓƵappÆƽâ°æ transmission electron microscope, now even first-year students can take a class in nanoscience.

Lauren Sohn’s independent project showed that exposing crayfish to a common insecticide, even in small doses, rendered them immobile and unresponsive to simulated threats.
